4:01 pm
negotiators to put together the framework of an agreement by tuesday's deadline. the world as you know is watching. here at home many lawmakers on capitol hill are demanding congress must have a bigger role in whether to approve any nuclear deal. house speaker john boehner says he doesn't understand why the president is so determined to make a deal with the regime that has no intention of keeping its word. >> the sanctions were working. they would have never come to the table and we should have kept the sanctions in place so that we could have gotten to a real agreement. >> live with the news in washington d.c. doug take it away. >> reporter: well harris, the stakes are getting higher higher than when the talks started because iran has been spreading influence across the mid east at an alarming rate at least in the minds of the critics who are fearful that the regime's expansion into proxy wars reveals truth to --
4:02 pm
>> now is the time to ask ourselves is it time to trust the people that we are negotiating with? so i would encourage the administration let's take more time. let's not hasten to a deal. >> supporters of the administration's negotiating stance believe pulling away from the talks could result in a worse deal. >> the alternative is we pass the sanctions which i would support. we wait for that additional economic pressure to bring iran back to the table and get a better deal. the problem is that may take years and they may get to israel's red line or our own before that time comes. the alternative is also dangerous. >> "wall street journal" reported this afternoon that western powers are trying to win russian support for reimposing tough sanctions. there is some concern that tuesday's deadline for framework will not be met. today josh earnest said it is up to iran to make that happen.
4:03 pm
>> ultimately it is time for the iranians to send a clear signal to the international community about whether or not they are willing to make the serious commitments required and live up to their rhetoric that they are not trying to acquire a nuclear weapon. if they can make the commitments they should be able to do that by the end of march. >> asked how the talks were going russian foreign minister said i'm not paid to be optimistic. >> meanwhile i understand congress is setting its own agenda for involvement in the talks even though that is not what the white house and senate wants. >> and to that point senate majority leader mitch mcconnell met with israeli prime minister netanyahu in jerusalem promising if there is a deal lawmakers from both parties will vote on legislation. republicans are determined to rein in what they fear is a nuclear deal that will pay the pathway to a bomb and not block it.

newspaper purported to be the transcript of the last minute of the crash of the flight right before the crash. fox news has tried to confirm this with the french authorities that it's a real thing. they would not comment. the german newspaper has come up with a lot of valuable information in the last couple of days. the name of the newspaper -- it includes kind of a timeline of what happening and flushing out a lot of details. first that lubitz basically encouraged the captain to take that bathroom break in the early minutes of the flight right before the forced descent. and then as lubitz is locked inside the cabin and starts the plane's descent we hear the captain screaming for god's sake open up the door and then we hear him using an ax to try to
4:16 pm
open it up. we also probably the worst part from the very beginning we hear the screams of the passengers on the plane. we thought they only thought they were going to die at the very end. it turns out for eight minutes they faced death. and one more note today about lubitz and his health. we learn more information about his vision problems. the reports are that he was suffering from a torn retina which could limit his eye sight and would force him to lose the job that he claimed he love. also more evidence about a possible depression problem. these could all be factors behind him doing what looked like a very, very mad and deadly thing. >> eight minutes of hell all because it looks like one man decided to make it so. so sad. i understand that there is kind of a twist being reported there locally in germany about his personal life and you have been looking into that.
4:17 pm
>> it factors into this, too. we were outside the apartment and living there with him was his long-time girlfriend over several years. the report and other report coming from that same german newspaper is that girlfriend had been pregnant. also, that the two had planned to get married and then there had been reports in the past couple days that the two broke up. and that was something that was upsetting to lubitz and could have been yet another factor behind this. throw this in with another report from the german newspaper that yet another woman we heard this yesterday another former girlfriend said that she broke up with him because well, he was seeming to be in a psychotic state and wake up in the middle of the night and say we are going down other accounts.
4:18 pm
no confirmations of this, but certainly a very troubled personal life which could feed into the motivating force behind this crash. we always get back to the victims and some heartening news from the french officials that they have been able to identify through dna remains of 78 of those victims. he believes by the end of the week he will be able to identify in one way or another the remains of all 150. when you see that crash scene the plane disintegrated, bodies disintegrated. also, of course, a tragic thing but at least progress is being made there as the mystery continues to be trying to be untwisted. >> you bring up such a good point. that helps at least the families somewhat have closure on this. blessings to those people doing that work because that is a big job. thank you very much for the update. pope francis is offering a prayer for the victims of the crash as well, during his palm
